How to care for your clothes and understand the labels

Always separate whites from colours, and group according to washing temperatures. Do not overload your washing machine ! If you have bought coordinates, always try to wash them together to avoid colour variations. Silk or cotton-based clothes, brightly coloured clothes and those containing elastane must be washed at 30° maximum. Velvet, corduroy and printed fabrics, garments with embroideries or transfers, fancy knits and all pre-washed or pre-faded garments such as jeans, must be washed inside out. Hand washing is advisable for pure wool and heavy cotton knits.

Dry clothes immediately after washing : avoid leaving damp clothes in a ball. Hang up damp clothes and smooth out any creases to avoid white marks, particularly for clothes made of cotton and those containing elastane. Sweaters in 100% wool and heavy knit garments must be dried flat.

Printed fabrics and garments with embroideries or transfers, velvet and corduroy must be ironed inside out. The same applies to silk which must also be ironed slightly damp. Clean the base of your iron regularly.

If possible, remove stains very quickly as fresh stains are easier to deal with. Following the instructions given on the garment's label, remove the stain with the appropriate stain remover before washing the garment.

Linen
Extracted from flax stalks, linen fibre is smooth, rather shiny with a slightly irregular aspect. It is hard-wearing and naturally brown in colour. After treatment, it takes on other delicate and vibrant colours. Although it tends to crease easily, linen remains a noble fabric full of charm. Light and natural, it is a pleasure to wear all summer.

Stretch material
Stretch material is made of 3 fibres : cotton, polyamide and elastane. The cotton gives it a natural look, the polyamide strenghtens the fibre and stabilizes the colours, the elastane adds a touch of comfort and softness. Like many other synthetic materials, stretch fabric is easy to care for. It is hard-wearing and appreciated for its great comfort.

Silk
Woven from the thread produced by the mulberry tree's bombyx, silk is among the softest of fibres. Fine and elegant fabric which does not crease easily. Cyrillus has chosen silk to make sheeny shirts, ties or scarves in beautiful, deep shades.

Liberty
Liberty floral print was created by Arthur Liberty at the end of the nineteenth century. Printed on cotton or wool, it is perfect for making delightful girls' outfits.

Cotton corduroy
Corduroy is a material whose soft surface is obtained by cutting threads to form a velvety layer. Since it is made from cotton, it has all its qualities : strength and softness. Cyrillus selects close-woven corduroy, ideal for making trousers for men and boys.

Merino wool
High quality wool from merino sheep, it is appreciated for being light and pleasant to the touch. Its hard-wearing quality makes it ideal for making sweaters and suits.

Lambswool
Made from the first shearing of seven months' old lambs, lambswool is valued for its heat insolation. It is supple, extremely soft and crease resistant. A high quality wool which Cyrillus has selected for its sweaters.

Super 100's - Super 110's wool
Terms to describe very fine wool yarn which Cyrillus uses for making suits. This wool yarn, warm in winter and cool in summer, is so light that it can be worn 10 months a year. It is known for producing a hard-wearing cloth which falls well.
